a) I move around a lot [I don't mean during the shot but before the shot.....a la Julius Boros]
b) I waggle a lot
c) I look from ball to target a lot
d) I get a very strong "sense" of the shot [not of the ball flight so much as how the swing will feel as I execute it]
(a), (b) and (c) all happen at once while I'm standing over the ball. I wait until (d) kicks in and don't start the swing until it does. When I do finally swing I just do what I've already "seen" and "felt". All up, (a) to (d) takes about 10 seconds.
Overall I would describe it as a much more fluid and flowing feeling than my other shots. From walking to the ball to hitting it, the whole process feels seamless. Fairway shots feel a bit stilted and contrived by comparison. Hmm...
