I recently saw a re-run of one of the Jesse Stone movies on Hallmark channel and being a big Tom Selleck fan immediately liked it. I then ordered the whole movie set from Amazon and subsequently the whole Kindle Jesse Stone book sets 1-13. Loved them all, movies and novels. Was very sorry when I found out that Mr. parker had passed on but am hopeful his co-author will continue the series in the same vein. Being from New England ( Maine) I can readily identify with the scenarios.The only thing I would note is that the movies had the police force as being only 3 officers for a town supposedly around 50,000 people ( according to one of the movies). That is pretty unrealistic. The books quoted a 12 man force which more realistic. My own home town of Belfast has a much larger force for a town of only some 8,000.
Other than that ( and I realize that was Hollywood license and not Mr. Parker), this is a tremendous series and one which is immensely readable and very, very hard to put down.

THESE ARE GOOD READS JESSE STONE NOVELS ARE COMFORTABLE HARD TO PUT DOWN.I'M GOING TO MISS ROBERT B. PARKER AND ALL HIS NOVELS.
I don't know which I enjoy the most; the novels, or Tom S. as the hero(?) of this series. Great character presentation for everyone involved. A late nite delite.
After watching all of the Jesse Stone movies, I wanted more and searched the books by Robert Parker. Love his style and definitely his characters!
All four stories were a good read that I enjoyed. The story develops as the NEW INVESTIGATION enters their lives. I enjoyed the way things ended.
The Jesse series just doesn't disappoint! I love all of these books and can't put them down. You won't be disappointed if you buy them as a set.
I enjoy the books. I have seen all the made for TV movies. They books follow the story line somewhat but there are big differences. The books give you a very different story line over the series. A good easy read.
Jesse is one of my favorite characters. If you are looking for "shoot and think later" cops... "this is not that." Thoughtful in his approach to dealing with others, deeply introspective, damaged in ways that will keep you rooting for his enlightenment...but acutely aware that his damage is likely what drives his self-exploration and compassion, you will love Jesse Stone too. Do as I do and continue to hear Tom Selleck's voice as you read Jesse's words and you'll also be a fan.
