I enjoyed this book. It reminds me of our part of the Ozarks with the terrain and the people. The characters were believeable and I cared about what happened to them. The plot wasn't so unpredictable to be out landished, but enough to be that I couldn't figure out why the murders were done and how until it came to the end of the book.Product details

Great read! This was the first of the author's mysteries that I've read. I'm hooked!
Sharyn McCrumb has a unique talent for displaying the beauty and melancholy behind the Celtic heritage of the Appalachian areas. This novel combines that with suspense. She does a wonderful job of making each of the smaller storylines within just as compelling as the main story.

Really enjoyed this book. Full of so much history and living in the area it was even more meaningful. Recommend to anyone that likes realistic characters and true content that come alive in the reading.
I enjoyed the variety of characters and the diversity in them. Points seemed to bog down with extended descriptions, but overall it was enjoyable. Not like most books about Appalachia.
